Communities in Canada, 1780-1850

We are learning about these three BIG IDEAS in Social Studies:

1. The different communities in early-nineteenth-century Canada influence the way we live today.

2. Social and environmental challenges were a major part of life in all communities in early-nineteenth-century Canada.

3. Canada was already a multicultural society in 1800.

Check out these maps of Canada - especially the ones for 1791, 1825, and 1849.  What changes from one map to the next?

Read about Pioneer Life in Upper Canada and try out some of these activities:

This looks great! I was just wondering, have you decided on a culminating project for your grade 3 class?
